Plug fans are usually employed for re circulation within oven applications. The plug and impellor fit into a square opening cut into wall of the customer’s oven. The casing and inlet are mounted from the inside of the oven. This allows the impellor / plug unit to be withdrawn from the oven without disturbing any equipment.
This arrangement has a shaft and bearings supporting an overhung impellor. The shaft is exposed to the air-stream at the back of the impellor hub only. The bearings are outside of the air-stream and protected from heat by a cooling disc and shaft seal. The shaft is driven by motor through a vee belt drive. Maximum air temperature is 450ºC (100mm plug depth). Higher temperatures can be accommodated on request.
